Nightmare Before Christmas

Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton is one of the few movies that have combined holiday themes. The visuals recall Halloween fun with a skeleton, cobwebs, and dark, ghoulish props, but the quirky characters deliver a Christmas message that makes this one of the most unique Christmas films on our list.

Jack, the King of Halloween, wanders into the land of Christmas and finds it wildly intriguing. He decides it’s time for Halloween Land to do Christmas. He then gathers everyone in the Land and puts them to work to make a Halloween-style Christmas for the world. He orders Santa Claus to be kidnapped but claims he will handle the gift-giving to give Santa a much-needed break. From here, the plan gets more and more out of control. Children all over the world receive ghastly “gifts,” the miscreants who kidnap Santa hand him over to a deadly fiend, and when Jack finally decides to fix all the havoc he has created…it may be too late.
